What exactly is the CAT Exam?
The Common Admission Test (CAT) is a common aptitude test that a candidate must pass in order to be admitted to the MBA programmes offered by 20 IIMs and over 1,200 B-schools in India. Every year, over two lakh candidates apply for the exam. MCQs and non-MCQs from Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension (VARC), Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (DILR), and Quantitative Ability make up the CAT question paper (QA). The exam's difficulty level ranges from moderate to difficult.
The CAT Exam is the most popular of the annual IIM entrance exams. Many aspirants aspire to obtain an MBA from a reputable institution. Applicants seeking admission to MBA programmes are required to take the CAT Exam.

About the CAT Exam Timeline and Registration -
Every year, approximately 2.30 lakh eligible candidates register. The CAT Exam 2022 is scheduled to take place on November 27, 2022. The official notification for the CAT Exam 2022 will be released in the last week of July or the first week of August 2022. (tentatively).

CAT Exam Syllabus -

CAT Exam Marking Scheme -
Candidates will receive three points for each correct answer.
For each incorrect answer on the objective questions, candidates will be penalised one mark.
Negative marks will not be deducted for non-MCQ questions.
Time Needed to Finish the CAT Exam Syllabus -
Every year, over 2 lakh CAT aspirants apply for the exam. An intensive preparation period of 7-9 months prior to taking the exam is highly recommended in order to ace the exam. Candidates who are behind schedule and fully committed to passing the test, on the other hand, can do well with a 3-4 month dedicated preparation period.
CAT 2021 Scorecard and Result -
The CAT 2021 exam results have been released. The CAT 2021 exam scorecard is available in downloadable PDF format and can be accessed via the CAT 2021 website using your login ID and password. Each candidate's raw scores (sectional and overall) and percentiles are listed on the CAT 2021 result cum scorecard (section and overall). Here's how to get the CAT 2021 results:
Navigate to the CAT website at iimcat.ac.in.
Select the CAT 2021 scorecard/results tab.
Enter your CAT application number as well as your password.
Navigate to the scorecard section.
Click on the Download button.
MBA Admission Based on CAT Exam Score -
Following the release of the CAT results, the admission and selection process at IIM begins. Each IIM establishes a minimum CAT cut off percentile in order to shortlist candidates for the next round of admissions. An overview of the selection process for IIMs and non-IIMs is provided below:

WAT/GD/PI = Written Ability Test/Group Discussion/Personal Interview
Following the computation of the Composite Score, the final selection is made.
CAT Admission Process for Non-IIMs -
Other than IIMs, institutes that accept CAT 2021 scores hold GD/PI for admission to their MBA/PGDM programmes. However, there are a few colleges that only admit students based on their CAT scores.
Is it possible for a third-year student to apply for CAT 2022?
Yes, third-year students, i.e. candidates in their final year of graduation, are eligible to apply for CAT. However, admission is contingent on candidates providing proof of graduation, such as mark sheets, as well as the college to which they have been admitted.
Is there a time limit for taking CAT 2022?
No, there is no such limit set for the number of exam attempts. Every year, candidates can take the CAT.
